What Is Same Day Windshield Replacement? A Complete Guide from Faith Auto Glass
Same day windshield replacement is an auto glass service that removes a damaged windshield and installs a new one within the same 24-hour period as the initial request. Faith Auto Glass provides this service through certified auto glass technicians who arrive at a customer’s location—home, office, or roadside—using a mobile auto glass service unit equipped for full installation and adhesive urethane curing.
Why Same Day Windshield Replacement Matters

A cracked or chipped windshield compromises structural safety and driver visibility. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA, 2023), the windshield contributes up to 45% of a vehicle’s structural integrity during a rollover crash. Delaying repair increases risk of crack spread, rock chip expansion, and potential windshield sensor malfunction. Same day service eliminates the multi-day wait typical of scheduling at a traditional auto glass shop, restoring safety and legal compliance faster.
Key Characteristics of Same Day Windshield Replacement
- Mobile windshield replacement: Technicians travel to the customer using an auto glass mobile unit, eliminating drop-off wait times.
- OEM glass and OEE glass options: Customers choose between Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) glass matching factory specs or Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) glass at a lower cost.
- Certified auto glass technician installation: Installers hold auto glass safety certification and follow windshield safety standards set by the Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC).
- ADAS calibration included: Vehicles with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) require glass calibration service to recalibrate the windshield sensor and rearview mirror mount.
- Insurance claim coordination: Faith Auto Glass communicates directly with the insurance claims department for insurance-approved auto glass replacement.

- Request an auto glass quote: Customers submit vehicle details online or by phone for a windshield replacement cost estimate.
- Glass sourcing: Faith Auto Glass confirms availability with a glass manufacturer for OEM or OEE glass matching the vehicle model.
- Scheduling: Glass repair scheduling assigns a technician and mobile unit, often within hours of the request.
- On-site removal: The technician removes the windshield trim, windshield cowl, and old glass carefully to avoid body damage.
- Installation and curing: New glass is set using adhesive urethane, which must cure per manufacturer specifications before the vehicle is safe to drive.
- ADAS calibration and safety inspection: If applicable, technicians perform ADAS calibration and a final safety inspection, including windshield wipers function and seal integrity.
Common Misconceptions About Same Day Windshield Replacement
| Myth | Reality |
|---|---|
| Same day service means lower quality glass. | Faith Auto Glass uses the same OEM or OEE glass quality standards regardless of scheduling speed. |
| Insurance won’t cover emergency same day auto glass repair. | Most insurance-approved auto glass providers, including Faith Auto Glass, process same day windshield replacement with insurance directly. |
| A windshield chip repair kit is always sufficient. | DIY kits only address minor rock chip damage; cracks over 6 inches typically require full replacement. |
| Same day windshield replacement voids the warranty. | Faith Auto Glass offers standard windshield replacement warranty options regardless of same day or scheduled service. |
Same Day Windshield Replacement vs Traditional Auto Glass Shop Scheduling
Unlike a traditional auto glass shop that may require a multi-day appointment window, same day service compresses the entire process—quote, sourcing, installation, and safety inspection—into hours. Traditional scheduling often requires the customer to drop off the vehicle, while a mobile windshield service brings the auto glass technician to the customer’s location. Car dealerships and auto body shops frequently refer customers to independent same day providers like Faith Auto Glass when factory service bays are booked, since express windshield service reduces vehicle downtime.
Practical Applications of Same Day Windshield Replacement
- Rock chip and crack repair: Fast auto glass service addresses windshield chip repair before cracks spread across the glass.
- Emergency situations: 24/7 auto glass repair supports drivers after accidents or storm damage requiring immediate car window replacement.
- ADAS-equipped vehicles: Same day windshield replacement and ADAS calibration ensure sensors tied to lane-assist and automatic braking function correctly post-installation.
- Fleet and business vehicles: Companies use local auto glass company services to minimize downtime for commercial vehicles.
- Insurance-covered replacements: Customers filing an auto glass insurance claim benefit from direct billing arrangements that speed approval.
